48” Hiking/Walking Staff 17L 8B Turks Head

A friend brought me a Hiking/Walking Staff and asked if would dress it up for her. Knowing the answer would be yes she also brought some beads to work in if possible.  The results are in the pictures of the Front and Rear of the Hiking/Walking Staff.

Gaucho and Spool Knit

Front:
Starts out with a 6L 4B Turks head and expanded it to a 10L 7 B Gaucho Turks Head using 425 Tactical Paracord Charcoal Grey paracord.  This particular cord gave a great texture to the project and is a Nylon Sheath and Nylon Inner.  Following the Gaucho is the 17L 8B Turks Head in 425 Tactical Paracord Yellow and 425 Tactical Paracord Lavender Lite Purple both have a Nylon Sheath and Nylon Inner.  The texture provided of those cords are softer and has a feel of cotton and didn’t allow the depth as the Gaucho does.  Followed the 17L 8B Turks Head is another Gaucho and then a 6L 4B Wobble.
Wrist Lanyard Front:
The full view of the wrist lanyard is shown on the rear view.  I should mention that the lanyard is 1 continuous strand. On the front view picture of the lanyard is 2 strands whipped together with Micro Yellow cord holding it snug in place.  The 2 Celtic knots and the diamond bead are adjustable allowing for attaching accessories.
Wrist Lanyard Rear:
Using the Spool Knit made the chain link wrist lanyard.  It provides a nice soft feel and will take a beating.  The whipping is used to secure the rear and the front strands together snugly to the staff.

Approximate Material Used:
Staff circumference: 3.75”
Gaucho’s: 4.5’ each
Wobble: 4’
17L 8B Turks Head: 13’/color
Lanyard: 8’

Key Fob

My nephew Reese inspired this key fob.  He is a Wisconsin Badger fan so the colors were going to be red and white.  The idea behind the design was too be simple and clean with a little edge.  Having some small pieces left over from previous projects and a Schmuckatelli Mind Skull bead produced his fob.

The 425 Tactical Paracord SC Red Imperial for the foundation and the Celtic knot for the stopper.  The 275 Tactical Paracord Glow-in-the-Dark White for the ribs.  The ribs are a figure 8 knot with a stopper knot on top and below the skull.

On the white paracord I applied wax to it before tying.  You can use paraffin or scented candle wax. The wax will help with repelling dirt and grime.  Good thing about paracord it washes clean easily.
